5 Easy Snack Ideas for Kids
Kids are always on the go, and it can be hard to find the time for healthy snacks. Dixie® cups and plates can help make great snacks easy to pack, store and serve, so even the busiest family can spend a little bit of time together.
1. Veggie cups:
Put 2 tablespoons of ranch or blue cheese dressing into a 5-ounce Dixie® cup and fill it with sticks of celery, carrots or other veggies. For smaller, rounder vegetables, such as radishes, 3-ounce bath cups with just a tablespoon of dressing make for great individual servings.
2. English-muffin pizzas:
Cut English muffins in half and toast until golden. Add sauce, cheese and toppings and put them back in the toaster oven until the cheese melts. Place muffins on one plate, cover with another and tape closed for an easy, portable snack.
3. Fruit parfaits:
Scoop 2 tablespoons of yogurt into a Dixie® cup. Slice apples and pears and toss them with lemon juice to keep them from browning, then place them in the cup along with peeled orange segments.
4. Mini sundaes:
Dixie® cups are perfect for buffet-style mini-sundae bars. Pre-scoop ice cream into the cups for a ready-to-go sundae base and fill other cups with an assortment of toppings to let kids get creative.
5. Smoothie Creamsicles:
Whisk together two 5.2-ounce containers of vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt and 1 cup orange juice, then divide between six 3-ounce Dixie cups. Freeze for 30 minutes, then insert popsicle sticks and put them back in the freezer until solid. Peel off the cups and serve!
